Easy METAR TAF — Privacy Policy

Easy METAR TAF ("the app") is a plain-English aviation weather reader. We designed it to need as little of your data as possible. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect.

1. We do not collect personal data

The app has no user accounts, no sign-up and no login. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, or any directly identifying information. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.

2. Information that stays on your device

• Favourites, saved reports and settings (theme, chosen airport) are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to us.
• Subscription status is stored locally and managed by Google Play Billing.

3. Information sent to weather/map providers when you use a feature

To show weather the app requests data from free, public services. When you open an airport or tap a point on the map, the relevant request is sent directly from your device to:

• NOAA Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov) — the airport code you look up, to fetch METAR/TAF.
• Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — the latitude/longitude you tap, to fetch the forecast meteogram.
• BigDataCloud (bigdatacloud.net) — the tapped latitude/longitude, to show a readable place name (reverse geocoding).
• RainViewer (rainviewer.com) — to load the optional rain-radar map overlay.
• OpenStreetMap (openstreetmap.org) — to load map tiles.

These requests contain only the coordinates or airport code needed for that feature, plus the standard technical information any internet request includes (such as your IP address, handled by those providers under their own privacy policies). We do not attach any identifier to these requests and we do not receive or store the results on our servers.

4. Payments

The optional yearly subscription is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment-card details. Refunds and cancellations are handled through your Google Play account.

5. Permissions

The app uses Internet access to fetch weather data. It does not request access to your precise device location, contacts, microphone, camera or storage. "Locations" you query are the points you choose on the map, not your physical GPS position.

6. Children

The app is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

7. Safety notice

Weather data is provided by third parties for general information and may be delayed or inaccurate. Always cross-check with an official aviation weather briefing before flight. The publisher is not liable for operational decisions made using the app.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new date above.
